SOPA and PIPA
While I keep this site free of politics, PARKERPOSEY.org was blacked out on January 18th in protest of the “Stop Online Privacy Act” (SOPA) and “Protect Intellectual Property Act” (PIPA). I believe that while piracy is an issue, SOPA and PIPA are harmful to free speech and gives too much power and authority over the internet to the government and companies. The video below gives a great overview of what is wrong with these acts and why Google, Wikipedia and thousands of other sites are speaking out against it.
So, if a company believes this site is using their copyrighted material, such as movie and/or television images, or even linking to such material, they would have the authority to not only completely shut down the entire site, but take severe legal action.
